Solidarność, Polskie drogi do wolności
Porozumienie Gdańskie z 1980 r. było kamieniem milowym w historii Polski: dało robotnikom prawo do strajku i tworzenia niezależnych od partii komunistycznej związków zawodowych. I tak powstał dziesięciomilionowy związek zawodowy Solidarność. Dziewięć lat później, w 1989 roku, upadł komunizm w Polsce, a w ciągu sześciu miesięcy upadł także mur berliński.
Solidarność zmieniła oblicze Polski i całej Europy. Niedługo po upadku komunizmu Polska została członkiem Organizacji Traktatu Północnoatlantyckiego i Unii Europejskiej.
Z okazji 40. rocznicy powstania NSZZ Solidarność w Kwaterze Głównej NATO w Brukseli umieszczono kultowe logo Solidarność. Natomiast 6 października 2021 r. Instytut Polski w Brukseli i Stała Delegatura RP przy NATO zorganizowały multimedialne wydarzenie Drogi do Wolności z koncertem na żywo zespołu Lombard, polskiego zespołu pop-rockowego założonego w 1981 r. i znanego na całym świecie. W latach 80 cenionego za ich protest songi. Widowisko zawierało także nagrania wideo muzyków z sąsiednich krajów: Vladimira Merty (Czechy), Stephana Krawczyka (Niemcy), Tarasa Kompanichenko (Ukraina), Andrieja Khadanovicha (Białoruś), które zostały nagrane we współpracy z Instytutami Polskimi w Pradze i Mińsku. Koncert przedstawiał historię polskiej Solidarności i drogę powrotu Polski do demokracji. Odwołuje się także do rewolucji Euromajdanu na Ukrainie i zwraca uwagę na demokratyczne aspiracje Białorusinów. Narracja historyczna powstała w porozumieniu z Instytutem Pamięci Narodowej i Ośrodkiem Studiów Wschodnich.
Uwagi wstępne wygłosili Sekretarz Stanu w MSZ RP Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, Stały Przedstawiciel RP przy Radzie Północnoatlantyckiej Ambasador Tomasz Szatkowski oraz Zastępca Sekretarza Generalnego NATO ds. Dyplomacji Publicznej Ambasador Baiba Brae.

Solidarity, Polands road to freedom
The 1980 Gdańsk Agreement marked a milestone in Polands history: it gave workers the right to strike and to form unions independent of the Communist Party. And so the ten-million strong trade union Solidarność came to be. Nine years later, in 1989, communism collapsed in Poland, and within six months the Berlin Wall fell, too.
Solidarity changed the face of Poland and all of Europe. Not long after the collapse of communism, Poland became a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the European Union.
To mark the 40th anniversary of the birth of the Solidarity trade union, the iconic Solidarność logo has been placed at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels. And on 6 October 2021, the Polish Institute in Brussels and the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Poland to NATO organised a multimedia event Roads to Freedom featuring a live concert by Lombard, a Polish pop-rock band founded in 1981 and known throughout the 1980s for their protest songs. It also featured video contributions from musicians from the neighbouring countries: Vladimir Merta (Czechia), Stephan Krawczyk (Germany), Taras Kompanichenko (Ukraine), Andrei Khadanovich (Belarus), which were programmed in collaboration with the Polish Institutes in Prague and Minsk. It portrayed the history of the Polish Solidarity movement and Polands road back to democracy. It also references the Euromaidan revolution in Ukraine, and draws attention to the democratic aspirations of the Belarusians. The historic narrative was developed in consultations with Polands Institute of National Remembrance and the Centre for Eastern Studies.
Introductory remarks were delivered by the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the North Atlantic Council Ambassador Tomasz Szatkowski, and NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy Ambassador Baiba Brae.
