Colonel Nicholas Joseph Nick Fury was once a World War II army hero before becoming the present-day super-spy and director of SHIELD in the Marvel Comics universe. Created by artist Jack Kirby and writer Stan Lee, Fury first appeared in Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos #1 in 1963. There he premiered as a cigar-chomping leader of an elite U.S. Army unit unit called the Howling Commandos. Injured by two explosions, he went on to lose the vision in his left eye before being saved by The Infinity Formula. Dramatically slow his aging, he ascended to the role of a CIA agent and spy, before becoming the leading agent of the fictional espionage agency S.H.I.E.L.D. In this role, he has come to spearhead the collaborations between governments and superheroes. Join http://www.WatchMojo.com as we explore the origins of Nick Fury.
