Queen Elizabeth II was a British monarch and the longest-reigning monarch in British history. She was born on April 21, 1926 in London, the daughter of Prince Albert, Duke of York (later King George VI), and his wife, Princess Elizabeth (later Queen Mother). Elizabeth was crowned queen on June 2, 1953 after the death of her father.
