This is one of the most rewarding hikes I did so far. The hike begins with a trek to base camp of Acatenango Volcano at approx. 3550m, when you can see Fuego Volcano erupting at approx. 10-20 minutes. At night the eruption continues and you can see lava being thrown into the sky. Morning hike to Acatenango summit at approx. 3900m before going down to the trail beginning.
The hike can be done by yourself of via multiply companies based in Antigua, Guatemala
