Nowa Huta has the reputation of a brutal and dangerous place filled with hooligans and criminals. Though in reality there are indeed a few undesirable 'elements' most people living there are hard working, educated, and friendly. I've said it before, I'm not a historian, I'm not a teacher, I'm just a curious person who visits important places and I give an honest opinion. Whenever I touch on historic topics around the time of the second world war, people go insane by my choice of words yet I feel that in giving a first hand account I've said nothing wrong. When I refer to German's as Nazi's, people claim "they are confused because I was not specific enough", "I'm inventing monsters from the moon" etc. When I refer to Nazi's as Germans I'm told it's politically incorrect as all German's were not Nazi's. So in theory I should limit myself to specifying "German Nazi's" in every account despite the fact that context is extremely clear. I do prefer to be respectful to the sensitivity of the topic, and would like to chose words which could please everyone. However, what I'm more interested in is paying my respect to the victims of these places and sharing the impression with other like minds. In this episode of Kult America, we visit some of the Soviet monuments in Warsaw Poland. This was an interesting experience because despite many Poles having a strong aversion to the memory of what USSR did in their country, they are still surrounded by constant reminders of that era. We visited the former seat of the Communist authorities (Known as KC PZPR), The former site of the planning commission which was a great example of the social realist architectural style, Marszałkowska Housing District (MDM) (Marszałkowska Dzielnica Mieszkaniowa (MDM), Konstytucji Square (Plac Konstytucji), The Soviet Military Cemetery which is burial place to over 20,000 Soviet soldiers who died fighting against Nazi Germany. My last trip to the place where 3 borders collide was a failure. I could not stand at three states at the same time because of legal issues, so this time I decided to go to the place where three EU countries meet. As they are in a Schengen zone I have the possibility to make it without breaking the law. Also, on my road I rayed a visit to one more old tripoint "Three Emperors' Corner" - where three previous Empires once met. Three Emperors' Corner (Polish: Trójkąt Trzech Cesarzy, German: Dreikaisereck, Russian: Угол трёх императоров) is a former tripoint at the confluence of the Black and White Przemsza rivers, near the town of Mysłowice in the present-day Silesian Voivodeship of Poland. From 1871 to 1918, it marked the border between the Russian Empire, Austria-Hungary, and the German Empire. In this episode of Kult America we visit a historic Zum Nußbaum restaurant in Berlin’s Mitte district to eat Schnitzel, Wurst, fried meatballs, blood sausage, and fried liver. This food was insanely heavy and difficult to digest. That being said, it was also rather tasty! A bit more about Zum Nußbaum, The inn, originally located at Fischerstraße 21, was built either in 1505 or in 1705,[according to different interpretations of the inscription over the cellar entrance. It was named for the nut tree which formerly stood outside it. It was one of the oldest remaining drinking establishments in the city. Zum Nußbaum figured prominently in an episode during the political battle for Berlin in 1929, when Horst Wessel and his SA troop faced down a crowd of Communist supporters and proclaimed the area free of the "Red Menace."[4] The inn was destroyed during an Allied Forces air-raid in 1943, along with most of the surrounding area. I’m a huge fan of tea and I’m a huge fan of travel so when I visited the middle east (Qatar) for the first time ever I thought it could be fun to try the assortment of tea on the street and hopefully meet some locals in the process.
